Description:

Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works ? MRDPW is the strategic institution that is mandated by the law to distil national and key sector policies into consistent regional policy. It is the national authority promoting the regional development, cross-border cooperation and other operational programmes for territorial cooperation.

According Decision 523 of Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria of 31st July 2007 on designation of managing, partnering, monitoring and control bodies for implementation of the European territorial cooperation programmes for the programming period 2007 ? 2013, the Programming of Regional Development Directorate General at the MRDPW is designated as national authority and national contact point for the Transnational Cooperation Programme South East Europe (SEE Programme).

After authorization by the Council of Ministers the minister of regional development and public works signs the Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the SEE Programme. The Minister approves a shortlist of external controllers as a database of eligible professionals who can be selected and contracted by Bulgarian project partners for the verification of the legality and regularity of their expenditures.
