Description:

Since December 2007 the Ministry of Local self government was nominated as national authority in charge of coordinating the activities for implementation of the IPA programmes for cross border cooperation as well as for Trans national and Inter regional cooperation.
Ministry of Local Self-Government is responsible for activities that refer to:

• Monitoring of the development and recommendation of measures for improvement of the local self-government;
• Monitoring over the territorial division situation and development of standards for the size, population and needs of the local self-government;
• Development of system, policy, measures and instruments for performance of more equalised regional development and provision of stimulations for economic development of the lagging areas;
• Provision and utilisation of the allocated sources for the lagging areas.
