Last days to register: Seminar "SMART SEE: Thinking of the future based on the experience gained"

The Hungarian Natioanl Development Agency, acting as the Managing Authority of the SEE Programme (SEE), and the General Directorate for European Territorial Cooperation of the Romanian Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism, acting as the National Authority and National Contact Point for the SEE Programme, co-organize the Thematic Seminar to be held in Timisoara (RO) on 30th October 2012, under the title "SMART SEE: Thinking of the future based on the experience gained".

Since 2007, more than 100 projects have been approved in the framework of the four calls for proposals published by the SEE Programme. These projects cover a wide range of topics and allow cooperating to institutions coming from many different countries among those 16 EU members and not members belonging to the Programme area.

The experience gained by the projects during their implementation activities should help us to prepare in better conditions the future of transnational cooperation and the programmes in the Southeast of Europe in the framework of the debates on the next programming period. In order to get more focused debates and concrete conclusions, specific themes have been selected to be addressed in a series of seminars starting with the one to be organized next 30th October in Timisoara.

Covering one of the main areas addressed by the EU2020 Strategy: Smart Growth, the Timisoara Seminar will gather experts and policy makers related to the theme as well as project partners working in related areas of intervention. The plenary sessions and the workshops foreseen will be an opportunity to debate on Smart growth in the South East of Europe area, thinking of the future based on the experience gained. The seminar "SMART SEE: Thinking of the future based on the experience gained" is a unique opportunity for project partners related to the field to influence the future of territorial cooperation in the area. This contribution offered to project partners will help to better define the future themes to be covered by the Southeast area programmes which give an appropriate answer to real society needs.

In this sense, the seminar aims at achieving some concrete conclusions from the different workshops and sessions which could be a valid input for the preparation of the next round of programmes in the area, considering the legacies of the current programming period to be maintained and the needed changes to be implemented. Moreover, it can help to SEE managing bodies to think about the possibility of preparing a future call on capitalization issues as a way to increase the projects results impact and leverage effect.
