NATREG Project goes global
NATREG project, financed through the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme, was presented on the occasion of the 2010 US National Planning Conference. The conference took place on 10 April 2010 at the Morial Convention Center, New Orleans (USA); Veneto Region, upon invitation of the American Planning Association, has demonstrated how cooperation works in the case of NATREG project.
| Together with some other pilot cases from Nederland, Spain and England, Veneto Region presented at the "Delta Urbanism Symposium Session: European Deltas" the today's challenges of the Delta Po, a transboundary territory between Veneto and Emilia Romagna region which is characterized not only by an outstanding nature and amazing landscape, but also by depopulation trends, the uncertainty of its economy and the effects of environmental phenomena/disturbances intensified by climate change patters. During the talk, the objective of NATREG project was widely explained, along with the necessity of a shared strategies pursued at transnational level by the partnership to tackle a balanced and sustainable development of the protected areas of South East Europe. Currently, Veneto Region and ARPA Emilia Romagna, with the contribution of the two Regional Parks in charge of the management of such protected areas, are working towards the elaboration of a interregional management plan of the Delta Po, a very ambitious results to be achieved by the next year in the frame of NATREG project.
