DANUBEPARKS best cooperation project at European Natura 2000 Awards

DANUBEPARKS won the big prize in the category for cross-border cooperation and networking at the European Natura 2000 Awards!

awardThis pan-European prize is awarded by DG Environment to examplary achievements in managing Natura 2000 sites and conserving protected habitats and species, as well as for raising awareness about the value of natural heritage for the benefit of us all. It recognises good practices in five categories: Communication, Socio-economic benefits, Conservation, Reconciling interests/ perceptions, and Cross-border cooperation and networking.

It is in the latter category that SEE-funded DANUBEPARKS network crashed competition to win the EU Citizen's Award.

The award ceremony took place on 21 May 2015 in Brussels and was attended by the European Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Karmenu Vella.
